About me
During my career I have been teaching and researching in many Finnish universities (University of Jyväskylä, University of Eastern Finland, University of Oulu and University of Tampere) as well as in universities abroad (Virginia, USA, Dunedin, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia). My expertise in ECE focuses on leadership, development of pedagogical practices in child care and quality management in ECE. At the moment, every now and then I do some ECE quality evaluation in Finland and also elsewhere, training programs as well as evaluations of academic PhD thesis. It is also refreshing to write some articles.
My research orientation has been cross-cultural, comparative research. My latest international research projects has focused on leadership. I also have examined ECE leaders’ leadership and management tasks and professionalism in ECE internationally and education in a changing society. National research focus has been in developing practices in ECE as well as on leadership and quality. My interest has also been to examine ECE in Finnish context and children in child care from point of view of observation and assessment.
I’m the founder of International Leadership Research Forum (http://www.ilrfec.org) as well as founder and chief editor of Journal of Early Childhood Education Research (http://www.jecer.org).
